Our Story

Talofa Lava & Welcome to Polybubs,

Polybubs began with our babies.

When our son was born, we wrapped him in a baby blue blanket for his baby announcement photo, but something felt like it was missing. We ended up using a lava lava gifted to us by family instead, and immediately it felt right. It felt like us. We felt proud.

Two years later, while pregnant with our daughter, we searched for baby blankets and wraps that reflected our Pasifika heritage so we could create that same feeling again, but struggled to find pieces that felt both beautiful and culturally connected.

So we created our own.

What started as one custom baby blanket quickly became something much bigger than we expected.

Because it was never just about the blanket.

It was about wanting our children to grow up seeing themselves reflected in the things around them. Wanting culture to feel familiar and part of everyday life from the very beginning, so they could grow up connected to who they are and never question whether they belonged.

As parents raising children in the diaspora, we understand how important that feeling of belonging is.

My husband and I are both from New Zealand, where Polynesian culture felt much more visible in everyday life. But after moving to Australia and raising our children here, we became more aware that they would not always grow up seeing themselves reflected around them.

That belief became the foundation of Polybubs.

Since 2019, we’ve created Polynesian-inspired baby essentials designed to bring culture into everyday life and help children grow up knowing exactly who they are.
